Now more than ever, it is important that operators have the proper training that will allow them to be safe during towing and recovery operations.

Safety is our number one concern at I-TECC, that is why we offer a wide range of towing and recovery classes so that all operators have a chance to learn and fully understand the key fundamentals of towing and recovery safety.

Level I – Fundamentals Towing/Recovery Course

Our Level I course is a Twelve (12) Hours Classroom, Hands-On and In-Class Exam. You will learn all the fundamentals you need to pass the “Level I” exam and get your certification.

In your class with I-TECC you will learn:

  • Operator Safety, Prepared and Compliance
  • Vehicle Inspections
  • Traffic Control, Equipment Safety and Safety of the Motoring Public
  • Tow Capacity Calculation
  • Light Duty Lift and Tow using Wheel Lift
  • Dolly use and operation
  • Resistance Introduction
  • Towing Truck/Winching Source Anchor-Ability Calculation
  • Passenger Vehicle Recovery Techniques
  • Carrier/Flatbed/Rollback Operations
  • Rigging Use, Ratings and Inspections
  • Snatch Block Use Introduction
  • Introduction – Hybrid and Electric Vehicle – Handling, Transport and Storage Concerns
  • Passenger Vehicle Up-Righting Techniques –Conducted during T.I.M.’s Training

Our Level II course is a Sixteen (16) Hours Classroom, Hands-On and In-Class Exam. You will learn all the fundamentals you need to pass the “Level II” exam and get your certification.

PREREQUISITE  –  LEVEL I   or comparable training

Level III – Towing/Recovery Course

Our Level III course is a Sixteen (16) Hours Classroom, Hands-On and In-Class Exam. You will learn all the fundamentals you need to pass the “Level III” exam and get your certification.

PREREQUISITE  –  LEVEL II   or comparable training

In your class with I-TECC you will learn:

  • Review – Resistance – Anchor-Ability – Introduced in Level I & II
  • Review of Tow Capacity Calculation and Lift Capacity Calculation
  • Review of Medium & Heavy Duty Lift and Tow using Axle Forks/Spring Hanger Forks, etc.
  • Air System Fundamentals and Familiarization
  • Driveline Component Identification, Removal and U-Joint Inspection
  • Airline hook-ups – locations, concerns, precautions
  • Rim and Tire Attachment Options for Recovery
  • Rigging Use, Ratings and Inspections OSHA Standards
  • Optional Winching Attachments
  • Additional Straight Truck/Box Truck Up-Righting Concepts
  • Tractor Trailer Up-Righting Techniques
  • Snatch Block Use Introduction
  • Advanced Winching Lay-Ups
  • Effects of Gradient Resistance on Tow Trucks/Winching Sources
  • Calculating Mechanical Advantage in Compound Lay-Ups
  • True Line Load – Calculating Angle Factor Multipliers – What is Resultant Load?

Rotator Training Course

Our Rotator course is a Eight (8) Hours Classroom, Hands-On and In-Class Exam. You will learn all the fundamentals you need to pass the “Rotator” level exam and get your certification.

Hybrid / EV Training

Our level Hybrid/Electric/Alternate Fuel Training will cover alternate fueled vehicles, i.e. CNG (compressed natural gas), LNG (liquid natural gas), LPG ( Liquid propane gas), H2 (hydrogen), gasoline and diesel, Electric vehicles – battery only propulsion, Hybrid vehicles – combination of electric and I.C.E. (internal combustion engine).

The training is broken into instructional segments:

  • Identifying, Understanding and Theory.
  • PPE (personal protection equipment)
  • Vehicle stabilization, imbolization and disabling.
  • Emergency operations, fire concerns and environmental issues.
  • Computer overrides and low voltage battery jump starts.
  • Winching, Relocation, Transport and Tow practices and porceedures.
